This has been a crazy-busy year in the South African automotive industry, and abroad. Volkswagen made its global debut of the SA-bound Golf 8, and an 'R' version was spotted locally during testing. Naturally, it was one of our best-read stories in 2019.

The most popular though was about a young man from Limpopo who designed and built his dream car from scrap materials.

Fuel hike news always hits everyone the hardest so no surprise here that a huge drop in petrol prices earlier this year was another of our biggest stories.

Others included what car sounds could mean, what to know about the demerit system, and one about an Ozzie teen who stole a Toyota and ended up totaling three vehicles by the end of his night, including an R3.5-million Lamborghini Urus.
