SA car sales: Picanto and Rio sell volumes for Kia during first month of the year

Kia Motors sold 1144 for the first month of the year, setting the Korean automaker off to a good start.

The little pocket rocket Picanto is the carmaker's top-volume seller with 612 units of the popular city car sold during January.

Launched in July 2017, the third-generation Picanto has been a best-seller since it has been introduced to the local market.

It's available with two petrol engine options (1.0-litre and 1.2-litre) and three specifications (Start, Street and Style). Prices start from R150 995.

Something for everyone

The Rio found 316 new owners and the Sportage SUV sold 165 units.

Kia's great people-mover sold 27 units of the Grand Sedona and 20 of the 7-seater Sorento.

The Soul sold three units while one Cerato was sold.
