Seoul, Korea - Kia has released images of its new Picanto, the third-generation of one of automaker’s global best-selling cars.
Kia will reveal the all-new Picanto in public for the first time at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show in March, and is scheduled to arrive in South Africa before the end of 2017.
Earlier in December 2016, a keen-eyed reader sent us images of the new Picanto undergoing testing in Cape Town.
Stretched design
Created by Korean carmaker’s design centres in Namyang, Korea and Frankfurt, Germany, the new Picanto brings youthful and energetic character to the A-segment, says Kia. The new model has been revealed in Kia’s sports-inspired ‘GT-Line’ specification.
A 15mm longer wheelbase (from 2385mm to 2400mm) pushes the wheels further out into each corner. The Picanto also has a wider range of colour palettes, with a choice of 11 paint options available.

Improved packaging
Kia says the third-generation Picanto will enjoy smarter packaging efficiency, with more cabin and cargo space than rivals in the segment. With a shorter front overhang and longer rear overhang, the all-new model is the same length (3595mm) as the car it replaces.
At the heart of the Picanto’s cabin is a new ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system, making the latest in-car technology available to occupants, according to Kia. The Picanto will also offer customer personalisation, with buyers able to choose from a range of colours for trim and upholstery where available.
