Volvo's XC40 leads the Readers' vote as SA Coty testing begins

The South African Car of the Year testing phase is underway in Johannesburg with the jury putting the 12 finalists through its paces for this year's title before casting their final votes for each segment.

Wheels24 has been running a voting booth since the finalists were announced last year to determine which car the public thinks should lift the crown.

The 12 finalists, in alphabetic order, are:  

1.Alfa Romeo Stelvio

2.Honda Civic Type R

3.Hyundai Kona

4.Lexus ES

5.Mercedes-Benz A-Class

6.Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

7.Nissan Micra

8.Porsche Cayenne

9.Renault Duster

10.Suzuki Swift

11.Suzuki Jimny

12.Volvo XC40

The Volvo XC40 has increased its lead in our public poll after displacing the Suzuki Jimny from top spot earlier in 2019.

The XC40 has 1302 votes with the Jimny occupying second spot with 1235 votes.

Towards the lower end, the Hyundai Kona sits at the bottom of the pile with 170 votes.
