SAKHIR, Bahrain - Bahrain has named the first corner of its Sakhir GP track for comatose F1 legend Michael Schumacher.
Track boss Zayed al Zayani said the tribute was made in agreement with the seven-time champion's family and Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm thanked the circuit for the gesture.
Kehm said: "We take it as recognition for his passion for motorsport. I'm convinced Michael will love the idea and feel very honoured about having a corner named after him."
'RECOVERY IMPROBABLE'
There are growing concerns, however, about the health of the former Ferrari and Mercedes driver who has been in a coma for nine weeks since a skiing fall despite recent efforts to wake him.
Dr Tipu Aziz, a professor at Oxford University in England, said: "It does not bode well. The fact that he hasn't woken implies that the injury has been extremely severe and that a full recovery is improbable."
German newspaper Bild reported that March 2 2014 was the birthday of Schumacher's wife Corinna, who is now also 45.
