Much like the Toyota's top-selling bakkie, the Hilux, the Volkswagen W Polo and Polo Vivo are in a league of their own as the best-selling passenger cars so far this year. VW launched its new generation budget cars earlier in 2018 with the Polo and Polo Vivo achieving 21 822 and 19 361 units respectively in 2018.
It's nearest competitor is a Toyota duo, Corolla/Auris/Quest and Fortuner, currently boasting a tally of 12 794 and 10 008 units sold respectively.

Popular city cars such as the Etios, Renault Kwid and Hyundai Grand i10 all bring in healthy numbers, achieving four-figure sales on a monthly basis.
It doesn't look as if any brand can dislodge the Polo from it's best-seller perch in the near future.
