Luxury SUV sales: Land Rover and Volvo top the charts

The Range Rover/RR Sport went top of the log for October 2018, as it ended the month as the top-selling luxury SUV. It cleared its nearest rival by 30 units to take top honours.

The RR/RR Sport sold an impressive 126 units, trailed by the very popular Toyota Land Cruiser 200 on 96 units. Following in third place is the Cruiser’s stablemate, the Prado on 93 units.

British takeover

In fourth place sits Volkswagen’s newly launched Touareg on 51 units - the only German representative on the list. Following this is the Land Rover Discovery on 41 units, while the Range Rover Velar slots into the sixth place with 36 units sold.

Jaguar’s popular SUV, the F-Pace, managed to secure 30 sales last month, and Volvo South Africa’s Car of the Year champion, the XC90, got 24 units signed off. Lexus' LX goes ninth with 19 units sold, while the Audi Q7 takes tenth place with 12 units.

Medium SUV: XC40 takes charge

Volvo’s smallest SUV, the XC40 went top of the log for medium-sized SUVs. It sold 85 units in October 2018, followed closely by the Audi Q5. Jaguar’s E-Pace takes the third spot on 73 units.

The Volvo XC60, 2018 International Car of the Year winner, signed off 64 units, and the Audi Q3 62 units. The Land Rover Discovery Sport went fifth on 42 units, while the Range Rover Evoque sold 34 units.

In eighth place is the Lexus NX on 12 units, followed by another Lexus, the RX, on seven units.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio sold two units.
