• Entire Figo range now available with Bluetooth
• Ford offers extensive range of connected vehicles
• AppLink due for local introduction later in 2014
Ford South Africa will add Bluetooth connectivity to its Figo Ambiente range.
Ford marketing manager Gavin Golightly told Wheels24: “The Figo Ambiente topped the sales charts* at the end of 2013, demonstrating its appeal among the South African public.”
Bluetooth allows people to connect a cellphone to the audio system and connect/disconnect calls through it or play music from your phone. Caller ID’s are shown on the vehicle’s display and phone book contacts and call history can be synchronised with the audio system.
FORD SYNC
Golightly said: “We know our customers value the ability to stay connected in their vehicles, so Ford is continuing to deliver that connectivity for them responsibly and safely.
“In addition to Bluetooth we offer a variety of technologies throughout the product line-up such as Ford’s award-winning Sync system.”
Sync, a Microsoft program, allow people to connect mobile phones or a digital media player to their car via Bluetooth or USB. Drivers can use either steering wheel-mounted controls or voice commands to manage the system’s features.
The Fiesta, Fiesta ST, Focus, Focus ST, EcoSport, Kuga, Transit and Tourneo are equipped with Sync.
“Sync has been integral to keeping pace with the customer, delivering value through smart and convenient features that help to keep them connected to their digital lives in a safer, simpler and smarter way.”
APPLINK FOR SA
Later in 2014 Ford will introduce another smart connectivity feature when it launches AppLink in South Africa to work with Sync. AppLink is the industry’s only system that allows you to use voice commands to control applications (apps) on your smartphone.
Golightly said: “Sync AppLink opens up a whole new world of content to Ford customers that they can access on the move by voice control while keeping their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road.”
