Millions in salary, incredible cars, and relaxing holidays… F1 ace Lewis Hamilton’s life of leisure

Lewis Hamilton is one of the biggest stars in Formula 1.

Sure, each generation of F1 drivers has their own talents, skills and personality quirks but Hamilton has been taking things up a notch in recent years.

Admittedly, social media plays a massive role in how F1 fans and the broader public perceive the Mercedes ace but his desire to achieve greatest in the sport should be commended.

Growing up with very little to go around, Hamilton forged his way in life through his racing talents. He raced through the various motorsport categories until finally making his F1 debut in 2007. In 2008 he won his first championship but had to wait until 2014 for his second title.

With the exception of 2016, he’s won every championship since and is well underway to becoming a six-time F1 World Champion at the end of this season.

Here’s a brief look at the lifestyle Lewis Hamilton leads:

Getting paid

According to GPFans.com, Hamilton will reportedly earn an estimated $57-million from his Mercedes contract this year. This not only makes him the highest-paid F1 driver on the 2019 grid but also the best-paid driver yet.

Of course, the amount mentioned may or may not include performance bonuses. Wheels24 also recently reported on Hamilton’s earnings per Instagram post. In the article, we reported that Hamilton earns an estimated R725 457 per Instagram post; 622 posts have been shared with his 12.4 million followers.

His endorsements earnings from Monster Energy, Puma, Sony, and Tommy Hilfiger (to ONLY mention a few) are not calculated. What Hamilton has in his favour is marketability. His wit and business savvy allows him to find the best deal, and it ensured that he is a great asset for Mercedes.

Hamilton’s net worth is estimated at R2.3-billion!

Enjoying the break

The F1 circus is now into the second of its annual four-week summer break and are teams and drivers enjoying a well-deserved break. Hamilton, who’s won eight of the 12 races we’ve had so far this year, is enjoying some time away with his brother, Nicolas.

Hamilton uploaded an image of him and his brother on Instagram with the caption: "Island tings, having the best time of my life with my brother on holiday."

Having dominated the season and accumulating 250 points, Hamilton is well underway to finishing this season on top. This break will surely help him recharge his batteries for when the second half begins at the end of August.

Hamilton's car collection

When it comes to cars, Hamilton has expensive tastes. His collection is what petrolhead dreams are made off as owns exclusive cars.

Like many first-time buyers, Hamilton’s first car was a Mini Cooper. He passed his driving test in 2002 and celebrated the achievement with a second-hand Cooper. Since then he stepped his game  with his second car - a Ferrari 599 GTO!

The F1 star added a Pagani Zonda 760LH to his collection (no, LH is not an acronym for ‘Lewis Hamilton’), as well as a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500. Not mincing his words, Hamilton once said that the GT500 is "beautiful but a heap of junk". Either way, that’s nostalgia at its best, Hamilton.

Hypercars seem to be a big love of Hamilton’s, seeing as how he owns a McLaren P1 and a Ferrari LaFerrari. Being a Mercedes driver, he supports his parent automaker; he owns a 2014 Mercedes-AMG SLS Black Series, as well as a Mercedes-AMG SL Black Series. Other Mercs include a Mercedes-Maybach S600 and a Mercedes-AMG GL 63. Also in his possession is a Cadillac Escalade.

Did we mention his Techart Porsche 997, Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6, and 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra? What a list!

Dream cars? Well, the Hammer is quite keen on a black Mercedes SL 300 Gullwing and the all-electric Maybach 6. Sadly, the latter is still just a concept car.
