Cape Town - Whether it's drifting a Ford Mustang through the streets of Tokyo or driving a Lykan HyperSport through buildings in Abu Dhabi... The 'Fast and Furious' franchise has seen insane car stunts spanning 7 movies over 15 years.

Little is known about the latest installment of the franchise but what we do know is that 'Fast 8' sees many of the original members reprising their roles in addition to new A-list help - SA's Charlize Theron.

The movie is scheduled to hit cinemas in April 2017, with the first official trailer to be released later in December. Ahead of the movie's release, the cast has created a touching tribute to the series, showcasing their journey and insane stunts.

What you should know

  • Dame Helen Mirren will join the cast though it's not clear whether she'll be driving. Mirren is one of the few actors on set who can actually drive a manual.

  • The main location will be New York City.

  • Fast 8 is the first American production to be filmed in Cuba since its embargo.

  • Iceland will also host the cast and crew.

  • Hobbs, Dwayne Johnson’s character, will play a major role in the upcoming film and possibly have his own spin-off series.

  • There will be loads of explosions, crashes, high-speed stunts...

Who we can expect

Probably the biggest addition to the crew is that of South African bombshell Theron, who will play the role of the movie’s villain. Alongside her, Scott Eastwood is expected to play Kurt Russell’s character - Mr. Nobody’s partner.

Other rumours include the return of the sexy Eva Mendez as agent Monica Fuentes, Lucas Black as Tokoy Drift’s Sean Boswell, and Paul Walker’s brother Cody could possibly also have a role to play.

Jason Statham, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and Nathalie Emmanuel can also be expected.
