BERLIN, Germany - The launch of BMW’s 2 Series Active Tourer, a front-wheel drive MPV, was greeted with mixed reactions.
If you thought BMW was done with family-orientated vehicles think again, as the new 2 Series Family Tourer was spotted in testing.
MORE SPACE IN THE REAR
The new seven-seat version uses the same platform as the Active Tourer though with more space in the back.
It’s obvious from spy images that it will sport two extra seats in the back. Apart from that, nothing will change. The new variants design remains largely the same though it’s slightly longer and taller towards the rear.

Engines will be borrowed from the Active Tourer, varying from 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel units to the range-topping two-litre 172kW/350Nm B48 unit powering the 225i. The Family Tourer will also gain xDrive versions.
The focus is on practicality with plenty of storage spaces and foldable seats. The 2 Series Family Tourer will be launched later in 2015.
