With the new models, however, new brand owner Mahindra has also chosen to roll out a gentle facelift that includes a revised grille, new instrument cluster with extra features and a “deluxe” centre console for manual-transmission units.

Among other updates from ItalDesign’s Giorgetto Giugiaro are Bluetooth connectivity, auto headlights and windscreen wipers and hooks and seatback pockets for hanging and storing items in the cabin.

BROAD APPEAL

The top-of-the-range model has 18” alloy rims, power wing mirrors and side and curtain air bags in addition to the standard driver and front passenger bags.

The updated Korando range comprises two 110kW petrol and three 129kW turbodiesel models. Apart from the range-topping diesel’s six-speed auto transmission and part-time all-wheel drive , the Korandos have two-wheel drive and six-speed manual transmissions.

When it comes to towing, the Korando has a braked rating of 2000kg for the diesel models and 1500kg for the petrol versions.

Korando prices include a three-year or 60 000km service plan (service intervals 15 000km) and a three-year or 100 000km warranty.
