Its styling is also inspired by Audi's Shooting Brake Concept.
But there is no doubt that the next generation of this iconic sports car will be a sleeker, longer and more elegant vehicle. Although the front end of the cars on our spy photos are a bit disguised the new TT will get Audi's controversial trapezoidal grille too.
As with the current TT, the new car will be available with front-wheel-drive or an updated version of Audi's renowned quattro all-wheel-drive setup.
Engine options will include a range of FSI units while the range-topper will feature a potent V6 unit.
It is expected that the new TT will be unveiled at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March.
