Two of the most powerful Lamborghinis meet in a drag race of epic proportions by the cool guys from CarWow. The Aventador SVJ and Huracan Performante lock horns to see which one will leave with a bloody nose.
Two of Sant'Agata Bolognese's finest machines compete not only to which one can launch off the line faster, but also which one has more top-end grunt to cross the finish line first.
Aventador SVJ
The ultimate Aventador is a track-focused machine that uses the famed L539 6.5-litre V12 engine and produces 566kW at over 8000 r/min and 720Nm.
If you're wondering what SVJ stands for, it's Super Veloce Jota, and is the lightweight version of the V12-powered hypercar.
The SVJ weighs just 1525 kilograms due to liberal use of carbon fibre and a titanium exhaust system. The Aventador SVJ can accelerate from 0–100km/h in 2.8 seconds and 0–200km/h in 8.6 seconds and can attain a top speed of over 352km/h.
The SVJ sends its power to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Huracan Performante
The Performante employs a V10 engine with a displacement of 5.2-litres and has 477kW and 600Nm. All the power is sent to the four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and like the SVJ is fitted with a launch control system.
It dispatches the 0-100km/h time in a manic 2.6 seconds and onto a 328km/h top speed. The Performante has a weight advantage of 18 kilograms compared to the SVJ; the former weighs 1507kg and the latter 1525kg.
Carwow says: "When you look through the spec sheet, you may think the SVJ has it in the bag. With a 6.5-litre V12 under the bonnet, it’ll produce an impressive 566kW and 720Nm of torque, while the Huracan 'only' has a 5.2-litre V10 that’ll put down 477kW and 600Nm.
But of course, it’s not all about power, is it? You have to remember that the Huracan Performante weighs LESS than the SVJ – even though it's a roadster. Not only that, but we also know how well it can launch from previous drag races… So what do you think? Will the weight difference push the Huracan to victory?
