I know this isn't going to sound selfish, but I miss traveling. As a motoring journalist, I have been afforded that opportunity often.

We get to drive all over South Africa on car launches, and personal road trips. And if you also love spending hours on the road, it's such a simple pleasure to take in all that our beautiful country has to offer.

From the lush terrain along the Garden Route to the dryness of the Karoo I love traversing the country in cars.

One of my favourite roadtrips was from Johannesburg to Mpumalanga; I picked out some of the best driving roads in the country and duly tackled them in a Ford Mustang GT.

I've also driven in many parts of the world and count myself lucky to have survived rush hour traffic in Mumbai, India.

When driving abroad you'll learn very quickly that in order to progress, you have to hoot and keep pushing through the maze of cars. It's up there with one of the best driving experiences I've ever had.

What has been your favourite driving experience, locally or abroad? Please email us here and share your thoughts.

So we have the perfect quiz to put your knowledge to the test. Can you tell which city in the world you're in from the driver's seat?

Driving in Europe was particularly tricky at first because the steering wheel is located on the left-hand side of the car, along with driving on the opposite side of the road. It took some time to find my bearing, but thankfully having a co-driver made the task easier.

Lockdown has been tough on so many people who are accustomed to heading out and exploring, and with the easing of regulations and travel permitted in your home province, more and more people are venturing out.

Last week I headed out to Tulbagh to check out a new coffee shop in the small town. I was amazed to see many other city dwellers who made their way to the countryside for a well-deserved break.

South Africans love traveling and our road network is pretty good.

I'd like to think I can name or recognise landmarks around the world, but that task can become trickier when it's from inside a car.

With the ban on international travel still in play, many people have had their holiday dreams dashed because of the coronavirus.
