Since being introduced to South Africa, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has become a strong seller for the Japanese automaker. The top model in the range, the GLS, powered by a 1.5-litre turbo engine, is the go-to offering in the three-model line-up.

Mitsubishi SA says that the 1.5 Turbo is 'rapidly driving' out of showrooms across the country, followed by the middle child in the range, the Eclipse Cross 2.0 GLS AWD.

Nic Campbell, GM for Mitsubishi SA, says: "Although the Eclipse Cross was a hit from the word go, the latest model is shining as one of the top-selling models in the MMSA (Mitsubishi Motors SA) range. The Eclipse Cross is attracting lifestyle-orientated buyers jumping to get their slice of its outstanding value, which is even more popular thanks to our ongoing assistance deals."

Mitsubishi Motors' full safety package is found in all Eclipse Cross derivatives, including seven airbags, side-impact protection bars, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

The deal-clincher

Mitsubishi SA says that a big part of the Eclipse Cross' success is the 'no deposit' deal they've been running lately. Campbell says that this is an offering that many customers have been taking advantage of.

He comments: "Many buyers took advantage of the 0% offer to get behind the wheel of one of our compact SUV's starting from just *R4510 per month. Our added value offering of no deposit for the Eclipse Cross 2.0 GLS, which is available in two-wheel and all-wheel drive, has been extended and is still available."
