Autonomous cars are edging ever closer to becoming a reality but just what goes into the technology behind a car that requires no driver.

So what exactly is a self-driving car? In simple terms, it is a car that does not need driver interaction but rather relies on a collection of cameras and sensors.

More than just a car

Some cars require driver assistance while others can operate entirely on its own. There are different levels to autonomous cars, ranging from "one to five", each with its own level of operation.
