And while families are wiping the dust off old board games, we've got a game for you to play. Many of us know of North American electric car company Tesla right?
Well, Tesla, which was started by South African-born Elon Musk, reckons their autobrake (AEB) system which the company says automatically applies the car's brakes when an object is detected has saved many lives since it was introduced in 2017.
In February 2020, the Express reported that the braking system 'automatically applied the brakes when it detected the tree was within its range' and saved the lives of four family members traveling during Storm Dennis, a windstorm that battered the UK, Ireland and Iceland.
How it works
Tesla, like many successful companies, tends to keep its cards close to its chest and hasn't released official information on the exact reaction time of its AEB system.
To get the best estimate on the reaction time of the AEB, Select Car Leasing have carefully selected 10 viral clips of the AEB in action, slowed each clip down and analysed how fast the Tesla was to react to the hazard on a frame by frame basis which found the average time of the AEB which is 0.3 seconds.

The team from Select Car Leasing have created an interactive game challenging whether your reactions are faster than a Tesla's. The question is, if you were in a similarly-dangerous situation, would it save yours too?
The simulation places you in the driving seat and your job is to watch out for the hazard and stop the car by clicking or pressing space bar as soon as possible once you see it.
