WATCH | Audi shows off its new 125kW autonomous AI:ME at CES

German automaker Audi showed its concept of a car of the future at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The autonomous AI:Me was launched in 2019, but at CES it offered rides in the self-driving car for the first time.

As far as specs go, it has an exterior length of 4.30m and a width of 1.90m, making it the ideal present-day compact car. Power comes from a drive unit positioned on the rear axle with 125kW. Its also hard to miss the large 23-inch wheels.

Interior components are made from high-quality textiles, some of which are made of recycled products. The use of real plants in the interior of the automobile is a first as well.

It looks pretty much what you would expect of a car of the future, it does not even feature a steering wheel, such is the build process and engineering that is currently going into the car and autonomous driving.

None of what you see in the short video indicates what you would expect in the production model as there are a host of areas to figure out before anything goes to the factory.

CES is the world’s most important specialized fair for consumer electronics and will take place from January 7 to 10, 2020, in Las Vegas.
