• Several new cars and facelifted models launched in June.

• Manufacturers are using digital reveals to show new models to local media.

• South Africans are encouraged to use dealers' online services to book test drives.

Car manufacturers have resorted to launch their new models via social media platforms as the traditional vehicle launch poses too many challenges as the country battles the coronavirus.

One of the positives about unveiling a new via a digital stream, like Volkswagen did with the launch of the new T-Roc, is that it's open to a wider audience. Volkswagen streamed the event on its Facebook page and opened up the event to the public.

Another crossover to make its digital reveal is Ford's new Figo Freestyle while Renault launched its Megane RS Trophy 300 to local media via video. It will be the sole RS model in the range, the local arm of the French carmaker confirmed.

Other notable new models that were launched in June include facelifted models such as the Renault Koleos, BMW M5, Mercedes-AMG E63

The brand new Lexus IS made an appearance on our computer screen too, as well as the Mahindra Pik Up S6 single-cab and last but not least the handsome Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme
