Mini confirmed its Countryman John Cooper Works will arrive locally in the final quarter of 2020.

The sportiest version of the range receives a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, an eight-speed sports automatic transmission and tweaks to the suspension. All-wheel drive is standard.

The JCW Countryman can be told apart by a sporty body kit and design cues exclusively for JCW models, like the 18-inch JCW light-alloy wheels with brake calipers painted in the brand's Chili Red hue.

There are newly-designed head and tail lights. Three new colours will be available, namely: White Silver metallic, Sage Green metallic, as well as the option Piano Black Exterior. With the latter hue, the headlight surrounds, rear lights, and radiator grille are finished in high-gloss black instead of chrome, as are the door handles and the model lettering on the luggage compartment lid.

An up-rated braking system is included as standard equipment with a four-piston fixed caliper disc brakes on the front wheels and single-piston floating-caliper disc brakes on the rear wheels.

Mini says the car's setup features a chassis, suspension and damping tweaked with racing know-how. Adaptive damping is optional.

Inside, the speedometer and rev counter are redesigned in a 12cm screen behind the steering wheel, it is now an optional equipment component.

The optional connected media infotainment system also includes an 23cm colour display with touchscreen function in the circular-designed middle panel.

The updated version now has bezel and touch-sensitive control panels with high-gloss piano black surfaces.
