South Africa has some of the best roads and views in the world. Both Charlen Raymond and I are privileged to live in a part of the Western Cape where we have mountains, and the ocean, right in our back yard. So, even in lockdown, a quick trip to the shop can include driving past these. And one of the cars in the Wheels24 garage, with a standard sunroof, makes for a lovely vehicle to do so.

However, this footage was taken just before lockdown set down more than two months ago as we take a closer look at the XUV300 on the inside. Mahindra has improved its build quality over the years, this car's cabin is proof of it.

The Indian automaker calls the seat material leatherette, and while that off-white colour could be daunting, it's actually effortless to clean.

There's a standard sunroof that opens up with a touch of a button, loads of storage compartments, USB ports for charging, and a multi-purpose leather steering wheel.

The touchscreen infotainment includes AUX and USB connectivity, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, driver information and vehicle management - all in one place.

The diesel W8 model is priced from R324 900. It uses a 1.5-litre engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission with 86kW and 300Nm.
