By now, it should be 'old news' that Lewis Hamilton is the most successful Formula 1 driver in history in terms of race wins. The British driver took the 92nd victory of his career in Portugal this past weekend, eclipsing the record he shared with Michael Schumacher for two weeks.

Hamilton started his career in 2007 and finished on the podium for the McLaren-Mercedes team on his first outing at the season-opening race in Australia. Several races later and he would win his first race at the Canadian Grand Prix - the first in what would become a record-breaking run. Hamilton is also the first driver in the sport's history to have won a race in every season he competed in, taking at least one victory.

Hamilton's winning rate stands on 35.11%, which translates to 92 wins from 262 races.

Behind Hamilton on the all-time win list is Schumacher, with 91 victories. Schumi registered these wins throughout his first career - from 1991 to 2006 - rewriting the record books and setting a near-impossible target to beat. Schumacher is widely regarded as one of the best drivers to have participated in F1, and his 14-year-old record was part of it.

Sebastian Vettel has won a total of 53 races, most of which came between 2010 and 2013 when driving for Red Bull. Vettel is not seen as the same driver that dominated the sport in those four seasons anymore, and many believe that his time has come. While driving for Ferrari, he has come close to toppling Hamilton to the championship on more than one occasion, but errors and misjudgments prevented that from happening. Vettel has won 14 of his 53 races with Ferrari - the team he'll be departing at the end of 2020.

The remaining two drivers on the top 5 list are Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna, who've won 51 and 41 races, respectively.

One of F1's godfathers, Juan Manual Fangio, won a total of 24 races, putting him 11th on the all-time list.
