BAR CASE 'CLOSED' - FIA

accreditation

After the team cast doubt on the independence of the Court of Appeal, the FIA said it would investigate whether BAR had brought the sport into disrepute.

Further penalty might have triggered a suspended six month ban, also handed down by the Court after BAR were found with an illegal car at Imola.

So, on May 11, BAR-Honda retracted all menace and vowed not to challenge the Barcelona and Monte Carlo sanction.

"BAR Honda are no longer under investigation," read a May 25 FIA statement, "and the FIA wish them every success in the remaining 13 rounds of the ... Championship."

BAR driver Jenson Button, meanwhile, reported pleasure at the way the Brackley based team handled the grand prix ban.

"We are all now incredibly upbeat," said the Englishman, "and determined."
