SA Scooby fans pull together for memorable photoshoot

Centurion, Johannesburg - Taye Mbiri and I came up with the idea for the Subaru Generations Photoshoot at the end of 2015, as we both have a passion for Subaru.

We thought it would be a great idea to find as close to "stock" looking Subaru Impreza WRX and STi models ranging from those first released in South Africa to the most recent ones; to show the transformation that has taken place.

Love for 'stock'

Our reasons for planning this photoshoot were for (1) the passion for the Subaru brand, (2) the love for the WRX and STi models and (3) the origins of these cars. We also realised that “stock” models are becoming scarce in this country and thought this would be a good opportunity to bring them all together, as it might not be possible to do so in the next five years.

We wanted to find the iconic World Rally Blue STi for each generation, but unfortunately we were only able to find six World Rally Blue STi's. The rest of the cars included various colour STi's and WRX's.

We wanted to capture as close to showroom floor feel for each car, as well as adding trim specific number plate covers.

Using the South African landscape

Each car had been cleaned and detailed to perfection by the enthusiastic owners, and our beautiful South African landscapes made the cars stand out so much more.

We contacted various Subaru centres, clubs and communities around the country to find these models and had owners from all over Johannesburg and Pretoria join us. We even had a few owners who travelled from Secunda and Durban to be a part of this shoot.

Subaru SA provided a great deal of assistance and support.

A big thank you to all the owners who joined us on the day. They showed us how enthusiastic they are about owning Subaru’s and we really enjoyed all the effort they put in to make the day memorable.
