Ministers' lavish cars: 'There is no justification for this' - reader

Cape Town - Wheels24 reader Alvin Tiluk shares his views on South Africa's ministers spending more than R41-million on luxury vehicles.

Tiluk says: "I think we are trying too hard to emulate other countries where there is a generous flow of income and income regeneration.

In these decisions as the magnitude of such large amounts of money invested in the many troubled areas of South Africa will definitely improve the living conditions and survival of those working class people who are currently living in very trying circumstances.

We as the people work this country and battle to pay of our cars and homes due to the high tax deductions etc, as we feel this all goes to the benefit of the government who is clearly for themselves.

It does not take a diplomat to understand that this is all wrong and the reason why our country is in so much trouble, what is the shame in a minister being driven around in say for eg a R300 000 vehicle or so as we the people do?

Most R300 000 cars have all the all the bells and whistles and if he is for the people, he should share their experience. Yes there are those who drive R1-million vehicles among the people but they are working investors etc.

Why do we have the blue light brigade? Why is our money being used to comfort and glorify our government? It's supposed to be invested in the many infrastructures which need ongoing investment in order for us as a nation to develop growth and improve our situation.

There is no justification for this, we are simply being "screwed" by our government and that has become acceptable and normal, while there is nothing normal about it and hence we are spiraling downwards as a nation and country.

What is it going to take to understand the plight and pain of the working class people who are supporting these bad choices by no choice of their own.

Ultimately this is still God's world not man's and he is showing us he is upset but nobody is listening as politics and spirituality share no common goals, we have never experienced tsunamis in Durban before but it has happened. Why? We must ask ourselves what is behind all the science behind that tsunami.

We are corrupted and God is cleaning up and without doubt more is to come.

Why does the government praise Tata Madiba, we have shamed him, he chose to cut his offered salary, now why would such an educated man make such a foolish gesture, I guess maybe he was for the people and not himself.

Is this really rocket science that we need to send such thoughts and emails. Change all this and put an end to it and let's live as a nation of love and respect stating from the top then as Madiba did, this will once again become a glorious nation but it starts with our leaders not the people.

The parents run the home and educate the kids not the other way around."
