Bad driving in SA: Users' shocking videos

Cape Town - Earlier in July, Wheels24 reader Faan Oosthuizen sent us a harrowing video of a Chevrolet Ute bakkie driver nearly crashing into his vehicle.

The Chev driver attempted a risky overtaking manoeuvre which could have been fatal to Oosthuizen and his family.

Since then, many users shared shocking videos and stories of reckless behaviour on SA's roads captured on dash-cams.

WATCH: Reckless driver almost takes out SA family

The driver in a white Chevrolet Ute tried an illegal passing manoeuvre, nearly driving into an oncoming vehicle with a family inside.

WATCH: SA truck nearly smashes into driver on slipway

Primilla Deonath sent in this dash-cam clip of a truck driver smashing into her on a merging highway ramp in Merebank, Durban in 2014. The incident seems to be deliberate and the truck driver is seen driving off without stopping. The truck company was contacted but denied any wrong-doing, claiming that the driver was one of "his best drivers".

Reader's video: Distracted driver caught on dash-cam

Wheels24 reader Isak sent in this video of a distracted driver. According to our reader, the driver was using his cellphone while crossing an intersection.

Isak, who happens to film all sorts of incidents from his motorcycle helmet too, also sent in this video of a truck driver not paying attention on the road.

Wheels24 reader Antonie van Rensburg and his son filmed this bad driver in a Chrevolet Ute bakkie along Fisherman's Drive in Durban. Van Rensburg says: "I've never seen anyone drive like this before!"
