What's the earliest age you started driving?

A bizarre story out of the United States about a five-year-old Utah boy who was pulled over on a highway while driving his mother's Dodge Journey had prompted us to find out how young our readers were when they first got into the driver's seat.

Taking chances

In South Africa, the legal age to obtain a learner's license is 16 years of age and 18 years of age to qualify for a driver's license. 

We're keen to hear a few hilarious stories of how young our readers were when they first pulled out of the driveway or took the old banger onto the family farm. 

Or perhaps parents can indulge us in a tale or two when they came home to find the car missing and their son and daughter gallivanting around the neighbourhood. 

When I was a kid, my best friend pulled outside my home in his old man's beaten up Ford Lazer: we were both 12 years old. 

I told my folks I was going to visit another friend and off the two of us would go, cruising around the area, oblivious to the dangers. The excitement and freedom trounced any impending trouble we'd get into.
