The internet is a beautiful thing, well when it's used correctly, that is. Case in point, this onboard footage I found on YouTube of a very talented driver taking on my favourite race track, the Nürburgring in Germany.

He is behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTi Clubsport S, the most potent GTi yet. It's powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which delivers 195kW/350Nm (213kW and 380Nm on overboost) and completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 5.9 seconds while top speed is limited to 250km/h.

The Clubsport rides on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

'Adjusting his seat at 208km/h like a boss'

A six-speed manual was the only option. VW fitted the Clubsport with a "Nürburgring setting". The set-up changes the adaptive chassis control, engine, steering, and sound to suit the Nordschleife (Northern Loop).

The perfect car for this track then? Well, yeah. But only with a driver who knows the track's tricky corners, changes in elevation and fast sections. He even adjusts his seat while doing well over 200km/h.

A close-up shot of the instrument cluster shows the electronic stability program setting has been turned off to stop the car from reducing power when it detects slip. The driver's car control is excellent as he swaps cogs and passes a yellow Porsche Cayman GT4 early in the clip and then sets his eyes on a GT3 ahead of him.

You'll notice that ups the ante when he finds the GT3 immediately puts on 'chase mode'.

The video caption paints a lovely picture: "Embark on the VW Golf GTI Clubsport , for a lap of the north loop of the Nürburgring behind a Porsche Cayman GT4, then a 991 GT3. Test conditions: 100% original car with optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, ESP anti-slip disconnected".

Enjoy!
