The Nissan GTR has become something of a benchmark for others to follow in local motorsport. Its record-breaking run at this year's Saldanha drags earlier in November only further solidified that.
Last year it was Stelios Sissou and his Alpha 16 GTR that crossed the traps in 346.3km/h. It blew many away on the day and the record run looked a tough time to beat.
Going one better
Enter Ernest Roberts, and his 1640kW NXGEN-tuned Nissan GTR R35, who set a new track record at the 2019 Saldanha drags with a top speed of 349.1km/h over 800m.
Regarding the specifics of the modifications and state of tune, it is unclear what is going on under the bonnet. One thing for certain though is that its extensive work and plenty of forced induction.

Next year's edition presents competitors with another chance to improve their times. Who knows, someone might go one better but it will be a tough task because it seems as though everyone gets faster at each event.
