A car's styling and performance is often the main topic of discussion, and not so much its wheels.

With that said, there are some great designs out there that gives a car its unique appeal and personality from an array of angles.

A car's shoes

From legendary exotics like the Ferrari F40 to a cult icon like the McLaren F1, those are the stock wheels instantly recognizable and gives the car its appearance.

Alloy wheels are most commonly found on cars higher up on the trim level spectrum where its size exceeds 15-inches. Some dealers also offer a bigger wheel as an optional extra.

Besides the high-end cars of this world there are also a few compact hatchbacks and sedans with good-looking wheels as well. The BMW E30 325is and Volkswagen Golf V R32 wheels can be thrown into the mix.

Aftermarket options

Trying to buy a stock, original wheel will no doubt cost you an arm and a leg and aftermarket dealers have pounced on the idea of selling replicas.

There are a host of local dealers like Shaba Mags, Allies wheels and Racing Edge that stock quality aftermarket options in various PCD sizes.

There is no doubt that a car looks much better with a set of special wheels fitted, and even better with a nice drop in the suspension.
