England - Hot hatches have always been a favorite among petrolheads with names such as the Golf GTI and Ford Focus being leaders in the hatchback class.

The best in a straight-line? 

So then, how would some of the most powerful hatches in the world fare in a drag race?

CarWow, a Youtube car review channel recently had an epic drag race, with the Audi RS 3, Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, Honda Civic Type R, Golf R and the Ford Focus RS

going head-to-head.

Audi vs Merc

CarWow says the Audi RS3 is the most powerful new hot hatch money can buy. With its 298kW 2.5-litre, five cylinder turbocharged engine sending power to all four wheels, it has the potential to shame some serious machinery in a straight line.

The Mercedes-AMG A45 lines up alongside to settle the score with a drag race. And just to see whether or not you need to spend more on a new hot hatch, Carwow added in three cheaper - but equally exciting rivals: the Ford Focus RS, the VW Golf R, and the all new Honda Civic Type R.
