All cars have to wear front number plates, but not all of them wear it the same way.
Normal passenger cars have their's riveted or tied to the front bumper and middle of the boot. Unfortunately, some cars, especially exotic models can be designed without thought as to where (and how) number plates would be fitted.
Unique placement
Not all cars allow a specific place for number plates as is the case with the Alfa Romeo 4C. Its unique 'V' shaped grille is a trademark and without affecting the design, the plate is fitted either to the left or right side.

Some cars though just look better without it.
The Lamborghini Huracan Performante and the Honda NSX are such examples where a plate would somewhat alter the overall aggressiveness.
Locally, if you drive without a number plate you can face a fine of R500 or more.
