Many men and women have taken on Germany's famous Nürburgring race track and failed. It's one of the most unforgiving circuits in the world, with massive elevation changes famous corners like the banked section called the carousel.
The track has hosted the Formula 1 Grand Prix in the past and also the annual endurance race, 24 Hours Nürburgring, that takes place on the Nordschleife or North Loop. It's been happening for the last 50 years, and over 200 cars and 700 drivers participate.
South African racing driver Kelvin van der Linde won the event in spectacular fashion in 2017. Mind you, that was done in an Audi race car.
We've found onboard footage of a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a street-legal 2010 Porsche GT3 RS.
The 997 GT3 RS is powered by a 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine with 336kW. It's amazing to watch as you feel like you're inside the car battling your way through the field.
We suppose what makes it even more amazing is that this GT3 RS is fitted with a manual gearbox and definitely adds to the appeal of racing with three pedals. The engine screams to over 8000 r/min and is sublime to listen to.
The video caption reads: "We drove the car from Weissach on the public road to the Nürburgring Nordschleife - compete in the 24 hours race, finished 13th overall - drove the car back to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.
"This onboard lap shows the start of the race - driver Patrick Simon. Thanks to my teammates Chris Harris, Roland Asch and Horst von Saurma."
