France - The Monaco Grand Prix is arguably one of the the most anticipated and glamorous events on the F1 calendar. Laid out along the streets of Monte Carlo, the track is also known for being one of the toughest circuits to navigate. Given its narrow tunnels and acute corners, crashes are common.
Many racing fans share the philosophy that the Monaco track is the track that separates the good from the best. For F1 racing legend Ayrton Senna, however, the Monte Carlo Grand Prix was his playground.
The Brazilian managed to win the French GP a record six times, a number untouched for 24 years. To put the record into perspective, 7-time F1 world champion Micheal Schumacher won the Monaco GP five times, with active racers Sebastian Vettel and 2017 F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton having won the race on two occasions only.
Senna's legacy of being one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time prompted McLaren to create a new hypercar named the 'McLaren-Senna' with its primary purpose being the ultimate track-tuned road legal vehicle.

As a tribute to one of the all time greats, we relive Senna's ruthless 1988 Monte Carlo race. Miles ahead of his opponents, Senna said that he was 'far beyond his conscience understanding' while leading the race by multiple seconds.
At one point he was even summoned to slow down by his team mates, however, Senna never made the finish line after crashing his car just before the end of the race.
