An SUV would not usually outperform a super car, but that’s exactly what happened when the new Range Rover Sport SVR took on the fearsome Tianmen Road in China.
Piloted by Le Mans class-winner and test driver Ho-Pin Tung, it smashed the previous record of 10minutes31seconds held by a Ferrari 458 Italia, posting a new record of 9minutes51seconds.
Super car vs. SUV
This is no ordinary road. Consisting of 99 turns and a 11.3km uphill ascent, the Range Rover's average speed was 68km/h.
