• Porsche's first foray into a fully-electric production model is the Taycan.

• In  Turbo S form the Taycan produces 460kW and over 1000Nm.

• A drag race video pits the Taycan against the 911 Turbo S.

In the pursuit of going greener and producing more environmentally-friendly cars, manufacturers have turned to electric-powered vehicles. On the surface they might seem cleaner, but the manufacturing process is a dirty one.

But we're not here to tackle that aspect of electric cars in comparison to their petrol-powered counterparts. Lining up in this drag race are two cars from Zuffenhausen that pack enormous punch.

Taycan

The Porsche Taycan is the carmaker's first foray into a fully-electric production car and in Turbo S form (the irony isn't lost on us) the performance figures are startling.

It has 460kW (560kW with overboost) and 1050Nm, and is capable of reaching 100km/h from standstill in 2.8-seconds. The front and rear placement of the electric motors essentially makes it a four-wheel-drive but the driver can switch the motors on and off, this takes place in mere milliseconds.

911

Not to be confused (as they share the same suffix), the 911 Turbo S bites back with some serious figures from its 3.8-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine. Top speed is a 330km/h and it now makes more power than its predecessor with a dizzying 478kW and 800Nm.

The numbers related to the Turbo S are insane, fitted with a eight-speed PDK transmission it'll knock 100km/h out of the park in 2.7 seconds. More impressive is that it'll hit 200km/h in under nine seconds from standstill.

Carwow says: "It's time for the Porsche showdown you've all been waiting for... Porsche 911 Turbo S vs Porsche Taycan Turbo S! The 911 Turbo S is absolutely RAPID, producing 650hp and 8Nm of torque.

But the Taycan Turbo S? Well, that'll put down a phenomenal 761hp and 1050Nm!! But will the extra weight of the electric motors prove costly?"
