The menacing-looking P1 is captured in action in a fantastic clip released by the automaker. The automaker is working through a number of durability tests before the first of its limited run of 375 P1 cars are delivered to customers.
The extreme temperature testing saw the P1 pushed to its limits through heat in excess of 52°C while driving through Arizona, California and Nevada.
The P1 is the culmination of 50 years of race-winning technology and expertise, and is proudly described as “everything the company has ever done”.
According to the automaker “from the outset, the goal for the McLaren P1 was clear - to be the best driver’s car on road and track. For this reason, the hot weather testing programme has not been confined only to the challenging road surfaces of US west coast, as the team push the boundaries of all systems and components on track in blistering heat.”
McLaren celebrates its 50th anniversary in September 2013 and to mark the occasion the first lucky owners will take delivery of their P1 sports cars.
