King Mountain 2007

accreditation
The Gydo 'King of the Mountain' hill-climb otherwise known as KOTM to its followers is truly a unique motor sport event, held annually along the Gydo pass route in the majestic Ceres Valley, Cape Town.

This is South Africa's only premier hill-climb event featuring some of the country?s most exotic and powerful motor vehicles, tackling the 6.5 km Gydo Mountain pass with it's 27 torturous turns and sheer plunges.

Drivers and vehicles are up against the clock as they accelerate madly up the mountain pass, negotiating its hairpin bends whilst trying to keep traction at all time...this is far more challenging than a race circuit. No wonder hill-climbing is one of the most entertaining forms of motor sport world-wide.

For two days each year, the Gydo Mountain pass becomes a hive of action as daring thrill seekers challenge each of other for the coveted King of the Mountain Trophy, giving thousands of horsepower hungry spectators a truly great spectacle.

Each driver has 3 timed runs with the overall fastest timed run securing the title 'King of the Mountain'.

2006 once again saw the on-form Dawie Olivier and the HOPS Subaru 2.5R team who rewrote KOTM history by taking an impressive third consecutive King of the Hill title and the outright King of the Mountain title.

A spectacular highlight was their 194km/h recorded top speed?which far outstripped the recommended 70km/h regulated traffic speed.

Running on the great success of the 2006 event, sponsors and spectators alike can once again expect another adrenalin filled event in 2007. KOTM 2007 is undoubtedly going to be another highlight in the 2007 motor sport calendar.

Sponsors will receive widespread coverage and exposure through various media such as print, web, radio and TV. This will be exclusively managed by the highly experienced KOTM marketing team who each year embark on an extensive promotional campaign to ensure sponsors get the media coverage they deserve.

Full page adverts in various motor related magazines will also be placed by KOTM to gain public and motor enthusiast attention.

Key sponsor branding areas are allocated to the10 spectators points. These are the best display points for brand exposure as they get great TV coverage as numerous cameras are setup up to capture all the thrill and excitement of the days action.

Based on the success of KOTM 2006 TV episode, Supersport has already committed to flighting a 1hr show of the 2007 event.

2006 saw the likes of key sponsors Castrol, Coke-Cola, SA Breweries, Xerox, Lee Cooper Jeans and Autoworld.co.za, Jacque Lemans, Koelfontein wines & Ceres Retreaders.
