Classic Jags to fetch R3.8m?

WARWICKSHIRE, England - Five classic Jaguars dating from the 1950's to 70's are up for auction at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.

They will line-up alongside other classic vehicles, as well as a number of race and rally cars at the auction on to be held on February 23 2013.

Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said: “For the Race Retro & Classic Car Sale we’ve put together an impressive collection of Jaguars. The auction is a wonderful opportunity for any serious Jaguar collector or enthusiast to acquire their next dream car.

“Indeed, the Jaguars we’ve offered at previous auctions have always performed well, especially at the 2012 Race Retro when we successfully sold five models, including a stunning 1958 Tojeiro Jaguar for R400 000.”

1950 JAGUAR XK120: The oldest Jaguar on offer is a 1950 XK120 Roadster owned by the same family for 50 years. Presented as a highly collectable classic, it is right-hand drive and has the original engine and gearbox. R630 000 - R729 000

1956 JAGUAR XK140 FIXHEAD COUPE SE: A 1956 XK140 Fixedhead Coupe SE, estimated at between R831 000 to R911 000, is ready for the race track. Known as "The Vicar’s Car" after it was raced by Reverend John Fellingham in the 1970s, it is a great chance to acquire a period car that is suitable to compete in many events.

1958 XK150 DROPHEAD COUPE: A s1958 XK150 drophead coupe is on offer with a red paint job, cream leather interior and red carpets. R771 000 - R911 000

1960 MK II 3.8 AUTO: A concours standard 1960 Mk II 3.8 Auto comes complete with a series of upgrades including a modern auto ZF gearbox, power steering, electronic ignition, power cooling fan and air conditioning.
