accreditation

• New Defender to launch digitally on 16 July

• Bryan Habana to attend the event

• Event to be streamed on Land Rover's social channels

On 16 July 2020, Land Rover South Africa will officially launch its new Defender in South Africa. The 110-minute event will be streamed online and will be available publicly on the automaker's social media platforms.

The new Defender looks vastly different from the previous generation, but that is because Land Rover took on a new approach with this model. From a design perspective, Land Rover retained some of the Defender's trademark design cues, while implementing a modern touch to it.

Inside the cabin and under the metal, the Defender is probably the most technologically advanced Land Rover yet. Land Rover is especially proud of the latest iteration of one of the automotive world's living legends.

Come the digital reveal, Land Rover enlisted the presence of three notable personalities. Xola Ntshinga, well-known sports presenter, will host the event and lead viewers through the Defender's history and its rebirth.

Bryan Habana, who first saw the Defender at last year's Rugby World Cup final, will help explain the SUV's technologies.

Having owned 15 Defenders since the early 1970s, Kingsley Holgate and his son, Ross, will weigh in on the Defender's capabilities and share their experiences with previous Defenders on many truly incredible expeditions.

The screening will be divided into five topics covering heritage, design, tech, capability, and purpose. Each segment will offer numerous interviews, short films and inserts to paint a complete picture for viewers on where the New Defender came from, how it was developed, and what it will offer customers in Africa.

The streamed special will be aired at 16:00 on 16 July on Land Rover South Africa's YouTube channel.
