Lexus’s powerful off-roader tries to blend into the urban crowd with a bold Aero Package.
LX570 mainstays such as permanent all-wheel drive with low range and adaptive suspension remain, but the Aero Package means tough off-roader also comes with added street cred.
The body kit has new front and rear spoilers, and the standard 18-inch wheels replaced with 20-inch alloys.
Kevin Flynn, general manager for Lexus SA explains the move: "The LX570 was designed from the outset for the harshest global markets.
"(But) the US market is obviously a major consumer of LX models and their demand for a luxury SUV biased more towards on-road use, maximising the refinement and features the LX570 has to offer, has lead us to offer the Aero Package in South Africa," Flynn added.
As for the cabin and interior, the LX570 remains the last word in plush off-roading with seating for up to eight occupants.
Similarly, the LX570’s 5.7-litre V8 remains unaltered, generating 270kW at 5600r/min and a peak torque figure of 530Nm at 3600r/min. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that should be as adept at cruising suburban streets as it is cruising crushing mountain trails.
