Land Rover’s auto show stand over the two media days featured the complete new Range Rover line-up, with Vogue and Autobiography versions, and the full power-train range. This sees the 3.0 TDV6 diesel engine made available in the Range Rover for the first time, alongside the 4.4 SDV8 diesel and five-litre V8 Supercharged.

CELEBRATING HERITAGE

The display also made room for a rare special edition Range Rover CSK heritage vehicle, a two-door model named in honour of Range Rover’s creator - Charles Spencer King. Its presence alongside the latest Range Rover generation was a strong visual reference for the evolution of the model’s distinctive design.

The historic Paris Opera showcased an evening of Range Rover celebration with the new fourth-generation model joined by its predecessors to demonstrate the evolution of its design across four decades, starting in 1970.

The all-new Range Rover will go on sale in South Africa in January, 2013.

Also on display in Paris was the 2013 Land Rover Freelander 2. Following its introduction at the Moscow auto show in August, 2012, the soft-roader will also be launched in South Africa early in 2013.

The latest round of changes to the Freelander 2, Land Rover said, will imbue it, the automaker says, with "a more premium feel, additional comfort and convenience".

Changes to the exterior include new front and rear lights, cabin enhancements that include three new colour options, a new centre console, 18cm colour touch screen control for audio, phone and (optional) navigation and a more powerful surround-sound audio system.

Land Rover also chose the occasion to celebrate 50 years of James Bond. The automaker displayed the Defenders used in the fictional secret agent’s latest film instalment, 'Skyfall', which will open in South Africa on November 30, 2012.
