Suzuki South Africa has given its popular Grand Vitara SUV a makeover for 2013 with a style kit and two specification levels.

The updates are aimed at boosting the cosmetic appeal of the SUV.

The front end of the SUV benefits from a revised grille, bumper, fog lights and a lower air intake. There are also  new 17" and 18" alloy rims and the cars can be ordered with in a new bronze metallic paint job.

Black fabric is fitted to the seats and door panels.

The changes to the Grand Vitara coincide with the introduction of two new specification levels - Dune and Summit.

Standard kit on on the Dune includes 17" rims and a disc-type half-wheel cover for the tail door-mounted spare.

The Dune has a radio/CD player with MP3 and speed-sensing volume adjustment, power windows, central locking, auto aircon and cloth seats.
In terms of safety, the Dune is equipped with ABS, front, side and curtain airbags and Isofix child seat anchors.


The upmarket Summit model rides on 18" alloys and the spare has a full cover sporting the Suzuki logo. The exterior also benefits from a sun roof and chromed side trimmings.
The Summit spec adds auto headlights with washers and front fog lights.
The higher spec model has cruise control, keyless start and six-disc CD player with MP3 compatibility and leather upholstery.
The Grand Vitara models are powered by a four-cylinder 2.4 capable of 122kW at 6000 rpm and 225Nm at 4000 rpm. Each trim level can be equipped with either a five-speed manual or four-speed auto.
The 2.4 manual is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 11.7 seconds with a top speed of 180km/h. The auto variant can do the dash in 12 seconds and reach 170km/h.
Fuel consumption is rated at 8.9 litres/100 km (manual) and 9.9 litres/100 km (auto) and CO2 emissions are 212g/km and 234 g/km repestively.
The Grand Vitara has the automaker's advanced all-wheel drive system that incorporates a low-range transfer case and electronic switching between 4x4 modes.
