Jaguar has revealed its new SA-bound E-Pace that is due in South Africa in the first half of 2021. The new E-Pace line-up will consist of four models, comprising three petrol and one diesel. The top model in the range, the P300e, will be powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that's mated to an electric battery.
The P300e PHEV (Petrol Hybrid Electric Vehicle) combines the 147kW petrol engine with an 80kW Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) motor. Total system output is 227kW, allowing the SUV to go from 0-100km/h in 6.5 seconds while boasting with a fuel economy from as low as 2.0-litres/100km. CO2 emissions are as low as 44g/km, according to Jaguar.
The compact ERAD motor is powered by a 15kWh lithium-ion battery located under the boot floor. When fully charged it provides up to 55km of all-electric range.
