The first images of Kia’s new Sorento was revealed by the automaker ahead of the vehicle’s first public appearance.

Ready to be shown at the 2020 Genera International Motor Show, the new Sorento applies a greater degree of refinement and elegance, whilst still retaining some of the outgoing model’s tough-looking aesthetics. Kia’s aim with the new model was to create sharper lines and cleaner surfaces, in a bid to make to SUV more round-edged than its predecessor.

Kia says the new Sorento incorporates an evolution of the ‘tiger nose’ grille its vehicles has become known for. The entire grille is wider and more expansive, wrapping around the headlamps that’s positioned on each side.

Even the headlamps, says Kia, now feature a new ‘tiger eye’ in its design, while daytime-running LED lights are now standard.

The changes in short

Kia didn’t alter too much on the Sorento’s design, but the changes it did bring about make the SUV to appear longer. Shorter front and rear overhangs have been brought about, as well as a longer wheelbase. The bonnet also appears to be longer, given that the A-pillars have been pushed back by 30mm.

On the interior front, Kia upscaled the SUV’s cabin by giving it a complete redesign, new technologies and an infotainment system, and using ‘premium-grade’ materials. The three-row versatility the Sorento has become known for is retained, but now goes hand-in-hand with, what Kia calls, an ‘intuitive and tech-orientated’ cabin.

The new Kia Sorento will make its debut on 3 March 2020.
