Tokyo - A criminal complaint has been filed in Japan about a Takata airbag causing injuries during a crash, the first such case in this nation related to an unfolding massive recall.
Another death investigated
Takata said on Wednesday (July 7 2016) it was fully cooperating with the investigation of the accident, in which a woman in the front passenger seat of a Nissan X-Trail SUV was injured. Nissan said it's also cooperating.

Kyodo News service reported, citing anonymous investigative sources, the woman was injured in October 2015, and metal fragments were later found to be from the inflator.
Takata has expanded its recalls, which are likely to tally more than 100 million inflators globally. Faulty airbags are responsible for 11 deaths and more than 100 injuries worldwide. Two more deaths are under investigation in Malaysia.
