Renault sales in SA: '2015 best year yet'

Cape Town - In a market that was down almost 7%, Renault says it experienced unprecedented growth in 2015, selling more than 20 000 units.

Nicholas de Canha, Renault SA CEO, says 2015 was the automaker's "best year yet".

De Canha said:"2015 was a record year for us with sales making South Africa the largest Renault importer worldwide, the only countries selling more than us being factory subsidiaries.

"We competed for that top spot with countries that have large vehicle markets, Egypt being a notable large Renault country."

Renault reports that it is now the 7th among SA's top selling passenger car brands. "

The automaker says it sales were bolstered by key models - Sandero, Captur, Duster and Clio - each positioned in the top 5 of their respective segments.
