Audi and BMW's US twitter accounts 'threw shade' at each other after the former tweeted a photograph that featured rings from a light painting photography technique.

Audi's logo features four ceiling rings, reflecting the four manufacturers of Auto Union, according to carlogos.org.

They didn't waste time being salty on the social media platform and captioned BMW's tweet with 'when you see it'.

It's cool to see brands not taking themselves too seriously and engaging in light-hearted banter.

Check out the tweet below:

BMW responded with 'We see it, where we usually do... in the rear view mirror.'

Twitter users responded with some hilarious tweets, focusing on the shade thrown by Audi.
