Watson wants ban on Lewis' dog

2013-06-03 10:46

Former F1 driver John Watson says Mercedes should ban Lewis Hamilton's dog from Formula 1 races.

While Hamilton insists he is enjoying his new freedoms after quitting McLaren, driver-turned-pundit Watson is making the link between the new Mercedes driver's lifestyle and his current struggles in Formula 1.

'NO PLACE FOR A DOG'

Watson said: "There is no place for a dog in the F1 paddock. For one thing, it is not fair on the animal. It (also) shows that Mercedes is bending over too far to please Lewis. There is absolutely no way McLaren would have allowed it.

"Lewis has to decide if he wants to be an F1 driver or a hip-hop star. He went to Mercedes with the reputation of being a man who would get the job done. It's just not happening and he needs to start working out why."

Team mate and 2013 Monaco winner Nico Rosberg, meanwhile, is winning praise in F1.

Adrian Sutil's manager Manfred Zimmermann said: "The way Nico has Lewis under control is the surprise of the season. It also shows that Michael Schumacher was not so bad in his last three years."

I agree 100%. Poor dog, the noise must be bad for the dog's ears. Does he wear muffs or earplugs.

im pretty sure the dog isnt like right next to the race track or in the garage when they racing. pretty sure he is in Hamiltons motor home were it shouldnt be that bad! and why do you people care so much what another person does? and dont tell me poor dog...since i am pretty sure you eat chicken, steak, etc. it only suits you to care about certain things in life? certain living things?

Strange... Mercedes is doing well since Hamilton joined them. And he is doing so far better than Schumacher did. As for Nico, Hamilton didnt go to Merc to compete with Nico and Nico just needs to get his points up. When the two take the front row in qualifying Merc is doing great regardless of who is in front. So how does this guy figure that Lewis is doing badly at Merc? And what has the dog got to do with Hip Hop. I dont remember Lewis recording a Hip hop track either... this fool has no idea what he is talking about. He needs to take a chill-pill!

2 different guys comments rolled into one report. John Watson about the dog/hippyhoppy Lewy Woowy & Manfred Zimmermann about the driving.

If Rosberg is doing better than Hamilton why are his points lower than Lewis'. In Monaco starting up front is key and you pretty much drive a bus to victory. Lets wait and see in Canada; granted Rosberg most likely will qualify ahead of Lewis but where will he be when the race ends. Will he be in front? Me thinks not.

      Vaughan - 2013-06-03 12:35

@Kwashirai Chigodora, I think you need to take a chill-pill. Lot of anger issues there.

      Maartins Siphiso - 2013-06-03 13:14

@Skhumbuzo Khumalo - You clearly know zip about F1 - Go brush up on this season's F1 results. (FYI - Rosberg had 2 retirements)

      sikhumbuzok - 2013-06-04 09:03

@Siphiso i am no expert on F1 and maybe you are. But if i look at the score board now it tells me hamilton is ahead of rosberg. if i look at Monaco and it was an open track i dont think rosberg would have won. Case in point is Vettel was frustrated at the bus in front of him and did a flying lap just to keep himself engaged in the race. What happened in Barcelona? Rosberg started on the front but where did he find himself at the end of the race? The guy has not won even 3 races in F1. He has never been a world champion. So to put him now on a pedestal is a bit of a dodgy thing for me. If ppl want to criticise Hamilton do it fair and square but dont elevate Rosberg. What has he achieved?

I don't see any correlation between Hamilton's dog and his performance as a F1 driver. I do feel that the dog shouldn't be allowed in the paddock, especially due to the noise level, and imagine how it smells to a dog's sensitive nose.

  • Kwashirai Chigodora - 2013-06-03 14:49

@ Vaughan...huh? did you read the article or did you read ME? I think the dog has access to the best vets. If they so feel the place is stressful to dogs they probably will advise accordingly. For the dog's good... as for connecting it to Hamilton's driving performance and hip hop thats clutching at straws!

      Maartins Siphiso - 2013-06-03 15:14

@Kwashirai Chigodora - are you on drugs, what on earth are you garbling about????? You make no sense man.

      Cobus Fenwick - 2013-06-03 21:13

Apparently Vettel has a Polar bear and Alonso a Cockatiel that shouts Red Bull sucks. Can they bring their animals along to Canada? Webber has a pet-sheep that shares a room with him, is he also allowed to bring the sheep to the track? Pathetic has a meaning and should be honoured, otherwise anything can happen anywhere. Lewis must leave his dog in his Jet-plane and focus on the racing. Where has the true racing gone? Mannfred Zimmermann just said what Billions of people never knew, but yet there are few intelligent people around."It also shows that Michael Schumacher was not so bad in his last three years." HE WAS NOT ALLOWED TO WIN. If anybody can not believe that, they must start all over again to find out what F1 is all about.

  • Muhammad Sheik Oumar - 2013-06-03 15:48

Lets face it, there is no point in blaming either of the drivers. The Merc is rubbish. Its good in qualifying but thats it.Hamilton was doing a great job at McLaren last year. He is obviously a talented guy. People criticised Schumacher for the same reason. Get it through your heads people the Mercedes is not a championship winning car yet!

      gerry.klos - 2013-06-03 19:54

what the f... has this got to do with the dog? I presume you drive a Hyundai Atos having such brilliant analogy.

      Muhammad Sheik Oumar - 2013-06-04 09:33

Eish dude, the article is not so much about the dog but more about Hamilton's attitude and performance at Merc. Watson is just using the dog as a point of reference.

  • Jackey Moss - 2013-06-03 19:25

This Watson guy must just shut his trap, This sounds more like a personal attack than sense, what's next, organizing a petition signed by all drivers to get his dog banned???this guy has clearly enough time on his hands to worry about crap or just thinking of becoming a vet....

  • Nathi Mfaka - 2013-06-04 12:51

This comment from this grumpy old man....doesn't deserve any response from Lewis....Mercedes team knows why they have hired Lewis from Mclaren....he is a good damn driver than he has ever been....So he needs to shut the Hell up....hip hop has nothing to do with someone who loves his dog....he needs to grow up!!!!!
